The 2011 winners of the AMX Innovation Awards at EduComm are:
· University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, Gainesville, FL.
The New Learning Space Award–awarded for the most innovative new learning space implementations in higher education and a prize of $50,000 in technology and equipment. The University of Florida created an interactive teaching facility that represented a quantum leap in the way veterinary medical instruction is conducted. The unique facility is attracting and retaining top faculty, students, research projects and grants.
· Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada
Automation and Control Award–for the most innovative use of automation and control systems in learning environments and a prize of $25,000 in technology and equipment. Memorial University of Newfoundland redesigned a lecture theatre that now serves as an innovative, multimedia room delivering an engaging, enriched learning environment for the needs of today's students. By using the AMX family of switchers and controllers, the University achieved a user-friendly, cost effective solution for videoconferencing, lecture capture and digital media capabilities while maintaining full support of legacy analog sources.
· The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Pomona, NJ.
Collaboration Initiatives Award–for the most innovative collaboration practices in higher education and a prize of $25,000 in technology and equipment. The University created a cutting-edge computer teaching facility at its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Tech Center. The smart classroom, which effectively combines technology with instruction, videoconferencing and remote training, has enabled the Stockton College's Computational Science program to significantly expand through course offerings.
