Product Info
The AD-2 is a high performance two-channel power amplifier designed to provide a more cost-effective installation solution for the smaller EM Acoustics products. Designed by MC2 Audio, the AD-2 utilises proprietary Class-AB bipolar technology and the unique MC2 Audio current driven floating output stage. Conventional analogue level controls help deliver the cleanest sound available coupled with very high levels of reliability. The front panel for the AD-2 carries the AC mains power switch and indicator LED, as well as a simple and intuitive set of indicators. LED indicators show audio signal presence and limiting, and an indicator bridged mode and audio protection are also provided. Each channel also has a multi-detent analogue level control allowing precise signal level settings when in use. Amplifier protection is also an area where the AD-2 delivers completely. A soft-start sequence with complete inrush protection means the AD-2 powers up completely muted, and then gradually fades the input up to the previous level. A comprehensive diagnostic circuit constantly checks for fault conditions including shorted outputs, DC on outputs, excessive temperature and component failure – and will instantly disconnect the outputs should such an event occur. The AD-2 is built around a 2U all-metal chassis, which provides a roadworthy packageA rackmount kit is also supplied to enable the amplifier to be secured at the rear for additional stability. Low-noise variable speed fans are fitted to the AD-2 (cooling is from front to rear), along with a reticulated foam dust filter which can easily be removed for cleaning. The rear panel houses the XLR input connectors, along with output connectors on NL4. The mains power connection is also presented on the rear panel, along with the switches for bridged mode and input signal link.
