One Systems Provides Sound Reinforcement for Rwanda's Amahoro Stadium Nashville, TN - Located in Eastern Kigali, the Stade Amahoro is the largest stadium in the African country of Rwanda. This multi-purpose venue hosts major sporting events and concerts throughout the year, including football matches and important public meetings. 

In 2011, the Rwandan government embarked on a multi-year renovation to the stadium which will expand its seating capacity from 30,000 to 50,000 by 2016. As part of this renovation, the stadium needed a permanent full-range audio system for speeches, announcements and foreground music for its patrons. 

ProSound, a leading professional audio and lighting distribution company headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africe, was called upon to design and install a new system that would meet specific requirements for acoustical performance and weatherproof design that would provide long useful life in the tropical climate. The budget for the project was limited too. 

As long-time advocates of One Systems Direct Weather loudspeaker systems, ProSound decided to install a distributed system consisting of 112IM 12-inch two-way speakers. 

"One Systems loudspeakers sound great - using them in this application was a no-brainer," explains Terry Acres, ProSound founder. They have a proven track record with our organization and we knew that they would get the job done for years to come."

The stadium consists of open north, east and south-facing grandstands with the west having two covered areas on either side of the covered presidential / VIP stand. In total, thirty two 112IMs were installed throughout the stadium. The open grandstands feature the 112IMs mounted along the bottom lip aimed up and out, while the roof-mounted speakers were placed approximately 10 m (33 ft) above the audience firing down. 

"The advantage of this distributed design is that we have loudspeakers close to the listeners so that listeners aren't overwhelmed by high SPLs. The speakers that fire from the inside out make speeches on the field and the VIP podium highly intelligible, Acres concludes. "Everyone is extremely happy with the final design and outcome."
