Manufacturer Pledges $25,000, Issues a Challenge to Benefit the Next Generation of Systems Professionals

Cedar Rapids, IA, September 16, 2013 — Shure Incorporated announced today that it will match combined donations to the NSCA Education Foundation, up to $25,000, which will be used to further advance the skills of individuals in the commercial electronic systems industry.

In addition to its matching contribution, Shure is challenging other manufacturers and industry members to make donations to the Foundation. If met, this would drive the overall campaign to $50,000.

“Our company has always placed a high priority on being a good corporate citizen,” said Sandy LaMantia, President and CEO of Shure. “It’s something that Mr. Shure established from the very beginning of the Company, and today remains as one of our core values. We are also deeply committed to education. This partnership with NSCA provides us with an opportunity to support the next generation of systems integrators and, hopefully, aid the continued growth of the commercial audio industry. We ask our fellow manufacturers to join us and offer their support in this effort as well.”

The NSCA Education Foundation has been providing opportunities for individuals to become further engaged in the industry by offering scholarships for students attending school to become installers and technicians and scholarships for individuals interested in gaining insight into running a systems integration firm by attending the NSCA Business & Leadership Conference and the NSCA Best Practices Conference series.

“Shure always raises the bar,” said Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “The Foundation Board is so appreciative of this commitment they started several years ago.  With more students interested in entering this industry, our Foundation plays an even more critical role in how they can support the growth and constant change within the electronic systems industry.  The last time Shure issued the challenge, it was a matter of months before other leading companies made their pledge. I expect the same this time,” Wilson added.

This donation will be used to create two new programs for those attending the NSCA Best Practices Conference series. Additionally, the Foundation is doubling the number of Vaughan scholarships for BLC2014 and is creating new efforts that will increase mentorship and internships for students entering the industry.
